You've probably noticed the copyright and byline statements at the end of new blog postings (excluding this site because of all the contextual links.) I've noticed a number of my popular blogs, including Ask Justin Hitt, Building Business Relationships, and B2B Website Profits, are being scraped.
Scraping a technique used by Adsense and Advertising sites that look to make money off other peoples content around a particular topic. The copyright statement and byline seems to ride along with how the sites are being captured, and provide some proof the copyright was violated.
This news site in particular is designed to be scraped. By using contextual links to related properties and affiliate marketing systems, I'm able to retain some of the value of each post. However, other measures are necessary for my content sites. You'll find more business blogging tips in "Business Blogging is Great if You Know How."

I'm already finding posts from last week in my Google Alerts on scraped sites, now at least they have back links.
If only there was a way to include the permanent link for the headline or have some origination tag to point back to the original.
